The domestic stock market indices opened with gains on Wednesday as investors reacted positively to the US election results. The Sensex opened with a rise of over 220 points, while the Nifty traded above 24,300. By 9:30 am, the Sensex had gained 399 points, reaching 78,875, and the Nifty was up by 134 points at 24,347. The rupee held steady at 84.23 against the dollar.

Among the top gainers in the Sensex 30 index were HCL Technologies, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank, Infosys, Bajaj Finserv, Sun Pharma, Tech Mahindra, NTPC, TCS, and Axis Bank. Meanwhile, shares of Titan, JSW Steel, HUL, Tata Motors, and Kotak Mahindra Bank showed declines. In the commodities market, Brent crude traded at $75.81 per barrel internationally, and gold was priced at $2,744.80 per ounce.

Global Market Overview

US markets closed on a positive note on Tuesday, while Asia-Pacific markets displayed a mixed performance. Japan's Nikkei rose by 2.25%, Australia's ASX by 0.93%, and Shanghai by 2.12%. However, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index recorded a loss of 2.57%. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs), who were active buyers in October, continued their trend, selling shares worth a net ₹2,569 crore on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought shares worth a net ₹3,031 crore.
